From the pivot to virtual events, to regulatory pressure on platforms and COVID-19's effect on industry trends, 2020 has been an unforgettable year. We'll be exploring how the year's defining moments have changed the media landscape, and what the future holds for 2021 and beyond.
What's New in Publishing is pleased to launch its annual report, Media Moments 2020 - sponsored by Permutive and written by the Media Voices Podcast Team. This comprehensive report covers trends in data & advertising, trust, reader revenue, print, diversity and more.
Following the presentation of the report's key points by writers Chris Sutcliffe, Peter Houston and Esther Kezia Thorpe there will also be a panel with industry experts, Jemima Villanueva, Executive Director, EMEA at The Atlantic, Aly Nurmohamed, General Manager at Permutive and Andrea Barbalich, Editor-in-Chief, The Week Junior at Dennis, to discuss challenges and opportunities going into 2021.
All registrants will receive the Media Moments 2020 Report after the event.
Jemima heads up sales and marketing for The Atlantic outside of the US, having established their London office three years ago. Most of her career has been spent working at or for premium publishers, mainly on the international side of their business indulging her love of travel and speaking foreign languages. Immediately prior to The Atlantic she took a diversion into the world of programmatic ad tech which gave her a fascinating look under the hood of what happens when you are acquired by the largest media agency group.
Aly is the General Manager at Permutive, the only Data Management Platform (DMP) that allows publishers to see 100% of their audience and target them in real-time. Y Combinator and EQT backed, Permutive counts BBC Global News, BuzzFeed, Insider Inc., Penske Media Corporation, Financial Times and ESI Media among its growing list of clients. Prior to joining Permutive, Aly was the Global MD Publisher Partnerships at Criteo, managing revenue for all direct publisher relationships globally.
Andrea Barbalich is the editor-in-chief of The Week Junior, a weekly newsmagazine for children ages 8-14 that Dennis Publishing launched in the US in March 2020. She has also edited several books, written articles and essays for a wide variety of media, and won numerous awards for her work.
Esther is a freelance media analyst, podcaster and designer, having previously worked for Dennis Publishing and the Media Briefing.
